🧾 Ingredients:

  • 6 large eggs, separated 🥚

  • 200 g (1 cup) granulated sugar

  • 180 g (1½ cups) cake flour or sifted all-purpose flour

  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • 1/4 tsp salt

  • 100 ml (about 1/2 cup) vegetable oil

  • 100 ml (about 1/2 cup) water

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1/4 tsp cream of tartar or lemon juice (optional, for egg whites)

  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)


👩‍🍳 Instructions:

1. Prep the oven & pan

  • Preheat your oven to 160°C (320°F).

  • Use an un-greased chiffon tube pan (with a central hole). Do not grease!

2. Mix dry ingredients

  • In a large bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, and salt.

3. Whisk egg yolk batter

  • In another bowl, whisk egg yolks with half the sugar until light and pale.

  • Add oil, water, and vanilla extract. Mix well.

  • Gradually fold in the dry ingredients until smooth and lump-free.

4. Beat egg whites

  • In a clean bowl, beat egg whites (with cream of tartar or lemon juice if using) until foamy.

  • Gradually add the rest of the sugar while beating to stiff peaks.

5. Combine batters
