🌿 Step-by-Step: How to Grow Garlic in a Pot
1️⃣ Choose the Right Garlic
Buy organic garlic bulbs from a garden center or grocery store. Avoid treated bulbs – they might not sprout.
2️⃣ Separate the Cloves
Gently break the bulb into individual cloves, leaving the papery skin on. Choose the largest cloves for planting.
3️⃣ Prepare Your Pot
Fill the pot with potting soil mixed with compost. Make sure the pot has good drainage.
4️⃣ Plant the Cloves
Plant each clove with the pointed side up, 5 cm deep, and spaced at least 10 cm apart.
5️⃣ Water Gently
Water after planting and keep the soil moist but not soggy. Garlic hates standing water.
6️⃣ Place in Sunlight
Put your pot in a sunny place – garlic needs at least 6 hours of sunlight a day.
7️⃣ Watch It Grow
Green shoots will appear within a few weeks. You can snip the green tops (garlic scapes) once they curl – they’re edible and delicious!
