3 minutes de lecture

If you’re looking for a natural way to dye your hair, consider this homemade method using walnut shells. It’s a chemical-free alternative that can give your hair a deep, rich color with a beautiful shine. Here’s how to prepare your own DIY hair dye with walnut shells.

📝 What You’ll Need:

  • 15–20 walnut shells

  • Water

  • A pot

  • A strainer

  • A bowl

  • A brush or sponge for application

  • Gloves to protect your hands

👩‍🍳 Instructions:

  1. Collect the walnut shells – make sure you have enough to cover the full length of your hair depending on thickness and length.

  2. Crack open the shells and separate the outer shells from the inner ones. You will only need the outer shells for the dye.

  3. Place the outer shells in a pot and cover them with water. Make sure they are completely submerged.

  4. Bring the water to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 30 minutes to extract the color.

  5. Turn off the heat and let the mixture cool until it’s safe to handle.

  6. Place a strainer over a bowl and pour the mixture through it to separate the shells from the liquid.
